Introducing Nitro MCP: Connect Claude to Nitro's Document Engine

According to Nitro's 2026 Enterprise AI Report, 75–95% of enterprise employees use AI for document tasks, and 96% of executives use it for work at least weekly. And yet document workflows have stayed largely separate from the AI environments where the rest of the work happens. Users generate content in Claude, then step outside to format, convert, extract, and route documents manually, in separate tools, as a separate task.

This is the gap that Nitro MCP closes.

The Nitro MCP connector for Claude brings Nitro's document processing capabilities directly into Claude, so your team can handle PDF and document tasks from a single prompt without leaving their workflow.

What is Nitro MCP?

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol—an open standard that lets AI agents connect securely to external tools and services. The Nitro MCP connector uses that standard to give Claude access to Nitro's document engine.

In practical terms: instead of downloading a file, opening a separate tool, running an operation, and returning to your workflow, you describe the outcome in Claude. Nitro handles the execution and returns the result.

"Pull all the vendor names, amounts, and due dates from the invoices in this folder into a spreadsheet." Done. "Convert these 30 Word files to PDF and merge them in alphabetical order." Done. No code required. No new interface to learn.

What you can do with Nitro MCP

The connector gives Claude access to document tools across five categories.

Extract data. Pull structured information—such as text, tables, form field values—out of PDFs and into spreadsheets, databases, or downstream workflows. Nitro handles the extraction accurately and returns only what you asked for, so sensitive content isn't unnecessarily exposed to the AI layer.

Convert and transform files. Convert between PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and image formats. Merge, split, compress, rotate, or delete pages. Apply or update document metadata. Tasks that previously required manual prep across multiple tools collapse into a single instruction.

Protect and secure documents. Redact sensitive content using the same natural language processing that powers tools like Smart Redact. Flatten finalized files to prevent restoration. Apply or remove password protection. Every file that leaves your hands can be confirmed compliant before it goes.

Extract accessibility data. Pull document structure and accessibility metadata from PDFs—useful for compliance, audit preparation, and content management workflows.

Nitro handles execution, ensuring accurate outcomes rather than an AI's best guess. When you use Nitro MCP, your files aren't handed to Claude; the connector calls Nitro to perform the document operation and only the result needed to answer your request is returned to the agent. Your documents stay on Nitro's servers, and nothing you process is ever used to train AI models.
