IT and software company, Bison Schweiz AG, develops digital solutions for the agriculture, wholesale, retail, and energy sectors. Following a recent merger with Fenaco Informatik, the IT organization provides services to more than 13,000 employees across 150 subsidiaries in Switzerland.

Given the size of the user base, achieving the optimum cost per license is critical. So, with the renewal date for the company’s PDF-editing software fast approaching, the Bison team decided to evaluate alternative providers. The aim: to find a solution that could meet their existing requirements at a significantly lower price.

The Bison team assessed multiple providers for features, functionality ,and cost-effectiveness. After identifying Nitro as the best fit, they tested the software with a select group of users to confirm it would meet their daily requirements.

“Every user has specific use cases that they work on day-to-day,” explains Christoph Rölli, Bison’s Head of Workplace Services & Security. “Before proceeding to implementation, it was obviously very important to determine whether these requirements were met – which they were.”

Implementation itself was relatively straightforward, according to Christoph. “We asked people if they wanted to stick with their existing software – and, if we didn’t hear back, we revoked their license and installed Nitro instead. It was all very smooth and we had virtually no pushback.”

For such a quick and simple switch, the impact on the bottom line has been remarkable. “We have achieved significant cost savings compared to what we would have paid had we remained with our previous provider,” Christoph explains.
