Sam Chandler

Founder & CEO

Sam started his first company at 16, while still in high school, and his second at 21, while attending university. After founding Nitro with several friends in Melbourne in 2005, the once-tiny startup has gone on to become a Silicon Valley success story. Today, Sam leads a team of over 200 Nitronauts across the US, Australia, Europe and Asia, and every month, millions of people in nearly 200 countries use Nitro products.

Sam was the Ernst and Young Australian Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year for 2014. He's on a permanent leave of absence from Melbourne's RMIT University, where he studied business, after moving to San Francisco to establish Nitro's global headquarters. On the weekends, depending on the weather and the season, you’ll typically find him motorcycling, cycling or skiing.

Part of the Nitro team since 2008, as COO, Gina has global responsibility for Sales, Marketing, Biz Dev, Customer Service & Success, and Operations, including Employee Experience and Talent. With over 12 years of software industry experience, Gina is truly passionate about helping make the Nitro culture and work environment as creative, challenging, fun, and inspiring as it can be, so that every Nitronaut feels they're involved in growing the business and that their contribution counts. Prior to Nitro, Gina was with activePDF, a leading provider of server-side PDF solutions and developer tools, where she oversaw global sales and marketing.

Fluent in French, Gina holds an MBA from the University of Phoenix as well as a BA International Marketing & Languages from Dublin City University, Ireland. In her spare time, Gina loves good food and wine, keeping fit, travel, and plenty of California sunshine.

Peter Bardwick

Peter Bardwick

CFO

Peter brings an incredible wealth and breadth of experience to Nitro. After starting his career in investment banking in New York, Peter transitioned into corporate management and has since held CEO, COO, and CFO positions for both public and private companies, as well as board and advisory board positions.

Winner of the 2014 Bay Area CFO of the Year, Peter has raised a total of $10.8 billion for both investment banking clients and companies in which he served as an executive. He was also responsible for the successful IPOs of CBS Marketwatch and Rocket Fuel during his time as CFO at the respective organizations.

He attended the University of Michigan, where he graduated cum laude with a BA in Political Science and an MBA in Finance. In his spare time you can find Peter cycling throughout Marin, where he lives with his wife and children.

Richard Wenzel

Richard Wenzel

VP, Strategic Operations

One of Nitro's founders, and now serving as VP of Strategic Operations, Rich is responsible for corporate operations, compliance, corporate governance, key treasury functions, and legal and shareholder affairs.

Prior to joining Nitro, Rich was an advisor at the Kerry Packer-controlled Challenger Group, in Melbourne. Rich returned to Melbourne from Milan, where he managed funding requirements for the Italian office of Bankers Trust (now part of Deutsche Bank AG), prior to which he was in London, where he worked as a trader in the treasury department.

Rich holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne, Australia.

Jeff serves as Vice President of Product for Nitro, where he directs product strategy, product management, and user experience. Jeff has more than 20 years of experience in executive leadership roles with a strong track record of developing innovative and market-leading software products. Before joining Nitro, Jeff served as SVP Products for both Findly and MarketLive. Prior to that, Jeff was VP Product Development at RightNow Technologies, where over 8+ years he helped grow the company from 100 to 1,200+ employees and from $30MM to more than $225MM in annual revenue before Oracle’s $1.5B acquisition in 2012. Jeff also previously served as Director of Product Management at Siebel Systems during its rapid growth to $1.3B in annual revenue before Oracle’s $5.8B acquisition in 2005.

Roland Tritsch

Roland Tritsch

VP, Engineering

Roland leads, builds and runs our world-wide, world-class engineering organisation and ensures that R&D, Infrastructure Engineering, Data Engineering and Platform Engineering are aligned to build our next-generation Smart Document Management platform. He is passionate about software engineering as a craft and likes to build scalable systems that make users smile.

In the last 25 years Roland has held various technical leadership positions. Before Nitro, Roland was the VP Infrastructure Engineering at Gilt Groupe, where he scaled the infra and tech ops for Gilt Groupe's flash sale platform. He also led the buildout of their Dublin engineering team, and was a key contributor in transitioning Gilt's tech stack to Scala. Before Gilt, Roland spent 9 years at IONA Technologies, a Dublin startup success story where he managed Professional Services and Technical Services for their EMEA operation. He’s also held roles as CTO, Chief Architect, Chief Open Source Strategist, and most recently served in an operations role coordinating a cross-functional, global Business and Application Services team at Fujitsu.

With more than 25 years of experience leading teams and driving sales in high-growth, primarily SaaS, technology companies, Dan is responsible for Nitro’s global revenue across all regions and channels. Throughout his career, Dan has successfully brought new products to new markets gaining a tremendous amount of hands-on experience while driving double and triple digit growth. He has been a key member of the leadership teams at six technology start-ups and growth stage companies. Prior to joining Nitro, Dan was VP, Worldwide Sales at Balihoo (a SaaS marketing automation solution), Anaplan (a business modeling and planning platform), and at SAVO (a SaaS Sales Enablement vendor).

Dan grew up in the Midwest and loves spending his time in Orange County, Chicago and San Francisco with his family of 6.

Mike Leyden

VP, Global Inside Sales

Mike joined the Melbourne office as a sales executive in 2009 and worked hard to build the channel network of retailers. Today he is in charge of leading, growing, and mentoring the enterprise sales team as they help solve the document challenges of our business customers. In his pre-Nitro life, Mike earned a law degree. Then he discovered a latent love for selling, and rose to national sales director for an outdoor media company. His goal is to develop a sales organization that offers world-class products globally, with culturally nuanced service in local markets.

Mike takes his work seriously, but not himself. A good day off involves any type of outdoor activity—including a beer garden.

Phil leads the Customer Service & Success Team at Nitro, a global organization with locations in SF, Dublin and Melbourne. Passionate about providing the best support experience possible, Phil brings over 20 years of support experience to Nitro. Prior to becoming a Nitronaut, Phil spent four years at Evernote where he grew a global support team who supported over 100 million customers in 10 languages. Before that, previous companies who have benefited from his expertise include Atari, eBay, PayPal, and the British Government.

Originally from England, Phil spends his free time with his family. He watches his favorite soccer team, Everton, whenever he can, and plays badminton and video games when time permits.

Steve Bower

Steve brings an incredible wealth of experience to Nitro as VP of Global Solutions Engineering. With 25 years of Engineering, Sales Engineering & Professional Services experience, Steve is an integral part of driving global revenue and product adoption across all regions at Nitro. Previously, as Nitro’s VP of Engineering, Steve oversaw the global expansion of the Engineering team and the launch of many Nitro Pro & Nitro Cloud product releases.

Prior to joining Nitro, Steve directed organizations for both large and small companies including Autodesk, where he drove Enterprise Application development in the office of the CIO.

Having lived and worked in Boston, San Francisco, Paris, Milan, and Rome, Steve brings a global perspective and experience driving international teams and businesses. Steve prides himself on building world-class teams that deliver and delight customers across the world.

Steve enjoys hiking, swimming and walking on beaches with his wife in Marin, where they live. He also enjoys keeping up with cultural happenings at San Francisco's museums & galleries.

Candice O’Meara

Part of the Nitro team since 2006, Candice leads the global finance organization with teams in San Francisco, Melbourne and Dublin overseeing the accounting, business support, financial planning and analysis, risk management, corporate finance, audit and compliance functions at Nitro.

Candice attended Monash University in Melbourne, Australia where she received a double Bachelor’s degree in Business (Accounting) and Business (Management). Candice is also a Chartered Accountant.

In her spare time, you’ll find Candice spending quality time with her family, enjoying the outdoors and (long) lunching with friends.

Kurt Johnson

Non-Executive Director

Kurt has more than 24 years of management experience, including public and private company leadership, initial public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, strategic investments, recapitalizations and venture stage investing.

Previously, Kurt was president and CEO of Fastclick (NASDAQ: FSTC). Under his leadership, the company tripled revenue to $85 million, completed a $75 million private placement offering and a $78 million IPO. Kurt then orchestrated the sale of Fastclick to ValueClick in September 2005, achieving a $285 million valuation. Before joining Fastclick, Kurt was CFO of ValueClick (NASDAQ: VCLK) and was instrumental in the company's growth from an early-stage enterprise to a $500 million international media technology company. Before ValueClick, Kurt was an investment banker with Olympic Capital Partners in Seattle.

Andrew Barlow

Non-Executive Director

Andrew was a founder of Hitwise, one of Australia's most successful global technology companies. Hitwise was one of the world's first "big data" companies, monitoring tens of millions of Internet users on a daily basis, and providing real-time competitive intelligence to Fortune 1000 customers globally. Hitwise was acquired by FTSE 100 company Experian (LSE:EXPN) in 2007 for US$245m.

Andrew is currently the Founder and Chairman of Adslot Ltd. Adslot provides automated ad sales solutions to online publishers, allowing them to sell premium ad inventory direct to agencies and advertisers. Adslot is publicly-listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX:ADJ), and has offices in Melbourne, Sydney, London, San Francisco, New York, Hamburg, Auckland and Shanghai.

Andrew was an early-stage investor in Nitro via his private investment company, Venturian, and has acted as an advisor and non-executive director to Nitro since January 2007. He loves the company, the people, and the team events. When he's not thinking about Adslot and Nitro, Andrew loves travelling with his wife and children, enjoying great food and wine with friends, and seeing how fast he can go in a race car (but not all at the same time).

Richard Wenzel

Anthony Glenning

Non-Executive Director

Joining Nitro's Board in April 2012, Anthony is an Investment Director at Starfish Ventures with a history of entrepreneurship. His responsibilities include evaluating investment opportunities, performing due diligence, negotiating terms, execution of new portfolio investments, and managing portfolio companies.

From 1999 to 2009, Anthony was an entrepreneur involved in a number of companies. Anthony was founder and CEO of Tonic Systems, a company that developed software for creating and managing presentations online. Tonic Systems was acquired by Google in 2007, where Anthony worked for the next two years within the Google Docs team. Anthony was also a founding, non-executive director of Cameron Systems, a company providing FIX protocol software solutions to financial businesses, acquired by Orc Software in 2006.

Michael Brown

Non-Executive Director

Since joining Battery Ventures in 1998, Michael has made, or managed, multiple investments spanning the financial-services, enterprise-software and technology-enabled business-services markets. From 1996 to 1998, Michael was a member of the high-technology group at Goldman, Sachs & Co., where he worked on debt and equity financings as well as mergers and acquisitions. Previously, he was a financial analyst within Goldman’s financial-institutions group. There he focused on mergers and acquisitions within asset management, insurance, specialty finance and retail/mortgage banking.

Michael graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University with a dual BS in finance and international business.
