JavaScript Security
Nitro PDF Pro for Windows
It is possible to obtain a PDF document containing embedded JavaScript that can trigger security vulnerabilities. Some users may wish to disable JavaScript for security reasons, or system administrators might need to disable JavaScript to abide by their company’s IT policy.
Note: By default, JavaScript is enabled, and the setting is visible in Preferences.
To disable JavaScript from running:
Option 1:
- Click on the File menu button, and then Preferences
- In the Preferences dialog, click JavaScript
- Select Disable JavaScript
- Click Apply

Option 2:
Note: This option is only available for Administrators

Launch the Registry Editor

Go to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Nitro\PDF Pro\CV\settings

Right-click in the right area of the window and select "New"->"String Value"

Name the new value
javascript_force_disabled -
Set its value to
/b 1Note: To enable JavaScript set its value to
/b 0 -
Relaunch Nitro PDF Pro

Click on the File menu button, and then Preferences

The JavaScript tab is no longer visible to users in your organization
