Create a Radio Button Field in a PDF

Nitro PDF Pro for Windows

Use radio buttons for mutually exclusive options. Users can select only one option in a group.

Radio buttons share properties with check box fields. However, users cannot clear a radio button by clicking it again. To clear a selection, users must:

    • Select another radio button in the group
    • Or reset the form

To group radio buttons, assign the same field name to each button. Use different Export Value entries to define each option.

Add a radio button field

    1. Open the PDF in Nitro PDF Pro
    2. On the Forms tab, in the Form Fields group, click Radio Button
    3. Drag the pointer on the page to create the field
    4. Open the field properties:
      1. Double-click the field
      2. Or right-click the field and select Properties
    5. Set the field name and appearance. Use one of these options:
      1. The Properties context tab
      2. The Properties dialog
    6. Open the Options tab:
      1. From the context tab, click Properties > Options
      2. From the dialog, click Options
    7. Configure the radio button:
      1. Radio Button Style: Select the appearance
      2. Export Value: Enter a value

          Important:

            • Use the same field name for all radio buttons in a group
            • Use a different Export Value for each option
