Edit PDF Tags
Nitro PDF for Windows
You can use the Tag Properties panel to update tag information, such as tag type, title, ID, and other attributes.
To edit tags
- Open the PDF in Nitro PDF Pro
- In the left sidebar, select the Tags icon to view the document structure
- In the Tags panel, do one of the following:
- Right-click a tag and select Show Properties
- Select a tag and click the Edit (pen) icon
- The Tag Properties panel opens
Update tag properties
Review and update the following fields as required:

Tag Type |
Defines the type of content associated with the tag. Changing this may affect available properties. |

Title |
Descriptive name displayed in the Tags tree alongside the tag type. |

ID |
Unique identifier used for linking tags (for example, table structures). Must be unique within the document. |

Alternative Text |
Description of an image for assistive technologies. |
|
Actual Text |
Text displayed in the Tags tree. |
|
Language |
Language applied to all content under the tag when different from the document language. If not defined, the document language is used. |
Review content (leaf node) properties
- Select a tag in the Tags tree to view its associated content node.
The Content Properties section appears under Tag Properties.
Review and update the following fields as required:

Expansion Text |
Defines the expanded form of abbreviations or acronyms at first occurrence. |

Language |
Defines the language of the specific content when different from the parent tag or document language. If not defined, the parent tag language is used. |
To save changes:
- Select Save in the top bar, or
- Press Ctrl+S
