Annotate a PDF using Text Mark-up Tools

Nitro PDF Pro for Windows

Use text mark-up tools to highlight, underline, cross out, or replace text in a PDF. Use these tools to add comments and show required changes.

You can choose to show or hide mark-ups when you print the document.

Mark up text

  1. Go to the Review tab
  2. In the Markup group, select one of the following:
    • Highlight
    • Cross-out
    • Underline
    • Replace
  3. Select the text to mark up
  4. Double-click the mark-up
  5. Enter a comment
  6. Click the close button on the note

Tip: You can apply more than one mark-up to the same text

Delete mark-up

  1. Select the Hand tool or Select tool
  2. Select the mark-up
  3. Do one of the following:
    • Press Delete
    • Right-click and select Delete

Edit mark-up properties

  1. Right-click the mark-up
  2. Click Properties
  3. Edit the settings:
    • General tab to change author or subject
    • Appearance tab to change the look
  4. Click Close

Tips

    • To reuse the same style, right-click the mark-up
    • Click Make Current Properties Default

Reply to an annotation

  1. Double-click the marked text if the note is hidden
  2. Open the Options menu in the note
  3. Click Reply
  4. Enter your reply

Tip: You can add multiple replies to create a discussion

Delete an annotation

  1. Right-click the mark-up
  2. Click Delete
