Use the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT)
Nitro PDF Pro for Windows
The Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) allows you to create a customizable group of shortcuts to the tools you use most frequently. By placing commonly used commands in the QAT, you can reduce the time spent navigating the Ribbon.
Default QAT Shortcuts
| Tool | Description |
| Open | Locate a PDF on your hard drive and open it |
| Save | Save the current file, overwriting the previous version. See Save a PDF document for more information. |
| Send the PDF to a hardware printer or to Nitro PDF Creator | |
| Undo | Reverse the most recent change. Click the drop-down arrow to navigate multiple undo steps. |
| Redo | Reapply a change that was undone. Use the drop-down arrow to skip forward through multiple redo states. |
| Touch/Mouse mode | Toggle spacing between Ribbon commands based on whether you are using a mouse or touchscreen. |
| Customize | Access QAT customization options via the drop-down arrow |
Adding a Command to the QAT
You can add any Ribbon tool or Nitro PDF Pro feature to the QAT.
- Right-click the tool you want to add in the Ribbon
- Select Add to Quick Access Toolbar from the menu
Note: Click the arrow at the right side of the QAT to access additional configurations.
Example: Adding "Optimize PDF" to the QAT:
- Click the drop-down arrow to the right of the Redo button, then select More Commands
- In the Commands list, select Optimize PDF (or any other desired command) and click Add
- The command will appear in the QAT
Removing a Command from the QAT
- Right-click the command you wish to remove in the QAT
- Select Remove from Quick Access Toolbar
Repositioning the QAT
- Click the drop-down arrow on the right side of the QAT
- Select Show Below the Ribbon to move the QAT beneath the Ribbon
Note: To move it back above the Ribbon, select Show Above the Ribbon
Advanced QAT Customization
- Click the black arrow on the right side of the QAT
- Select More Commands. The Customize dialog appears.
- Use the Choose commands from menu to filter tools
- Select tools in the Commands list and click Add to pin them to the QAT
- Arrange tools using the up and down arrow buttons
- To revert the QAT to its default state, click Reset
- Click OK to save changes
