Use the Sidebar
Nitro PDF for Mac
The Sidebar in Nitro PDF Pro for Mac appears on the left side of your document window. It provides quick access to navigation tools, bookmarks, annotations, attachments, and more.

Single Page
- Click the Sidebar button in the Toolbar to hide or reveal the sidebar.
- Choose View > Show Sidebar (Command+Shift+D).
Sidebar Display Options
Hidden sidebar
Hide the sidebar for a cleaner viewing experience. Click the Sidebar button again, or select an option from the Sidebar menu, to make it reappear.
Thumbnails
- View all pages in your PDF as thumbnails. Click any thumbnail to jump to that page.
- Use the slider at the bottom of the Sidebar to adjust thumbnail size.

Table of Contents
- View and navigate your document’s Table of Contents. You can also go to View > Table of Contents to open it.
- Click an entry to jump directly to that section — a highlight shows your current location.
- Right-click (or Control-click) to expand or collapse sections.
- Bookmarks are listed at the top of the Table of Contents in the Sidebar. ( Bookmarks).
- In PDFpenPro, use the action button at the bottom of the sidebar to create and edit a Table of Contents.
Annotations
- The Annotations view lists all comments, highlights, drawings, and markup in the document.
- Click an annotation to navigate to it, or double-click to select and edit it.
- Use the Show menu at the bottom to filter which annotation types are visible.

Attachments
- Add or view files attached to your PDF directly in the Sidebar.
Form Fields
- View a list of all form fields.
- Drag to reorder and set a new tab order.
Single Page
- Displays one page at a time for a focused reading experience.
Facing Pages
- Displays two pages side by side, like an open book.
- The cover page can be shown alone or as part of a pair.
Page Layouts and Views
Continuous view
- Scroll continuously through your document instead of viewing one page at a time.
