System Requirements and Permissions for Installing Nitro PDF Creator

During the installation of Nitro PDF Pro for Windows, the installer writes .DLL files to the following folder:

C:\Windows\System32

The Nitro PDF Creator component uses these files for PDF conversion functions.

Required permissions

The Windows user account that performs the installation must have permission to:

  • Write files to the C:\Windows\System32 folder
  • Modify files in the C:\Windows\System32 folder

The computer must also allow access to this folder during the installation process.

Common causes of installation failure

The Nitro PDF Creator installation can fail if access to the C:\Windows\System32 folder is restricted.

Common causes include:

  • Group Policy restrictions
  • Security software
  • Anti-malware applications
  • Reduced Windows Installer (MSIEXEC) privileges

If the installer cannot write or update the required files, Nitro PDF Creator does not install correctly.

Security software that can block the installation

The following applications can block the installation of Nitro PDF Creator:

  • SentinelOne
  • Avecto Privilege Guard Client
  • Cortex XDR

To allow the installation to complete successfully:

  • Temporarily disable the security application during the installation, or
  • Add Nitro PDF Pro to the application's allowlist or whitelist

After you update the security settings, run the Nitro PDF Pro installation again.
