Ribbon

The Ribbon contains tabs with grouped tools. You can minimize the Ribbon to increase workspace and use keyboard shortcuts to access Ribbon commands. 

 

Minimize the Ribbon 

You can hide the Ribbon to increase the document viewing area. 

Do one of the following: 

• Right-click anywhere on the Ribbon or on a Ribbon button. 
  Select Minimize the Ribbon. 

• Select the Minimize Ribbon button next to the Find field. 

The Ribbon collapses into the application frame. 

Restore the Ribbon 

Do one of the following: 

• Right-click anywhere on the Ribbon or on a Ribbon button. 
  Select Minimize the Ribbon. 

• Select the Minimize Ribbon button next to the Find field. 

The Ribbon returns to its full size. 

Temporarily View the Ribbon When Minimized 

1. Select any Ribbon tab 
2. The tab and its tool groups appear temporarily 
3. The Ribbon hides again after you select a tool or click in the document area 

 

Use Ribbon Shortcut Keys 

Each Ribbon command has a keyboard shortcut. Shortcut keys give faster access to tools. 

View Shortcut Keys 

1. Press Alt on the keyboard 
2. Shortcut keys appear over the available commands 
3. Shortcut keys show only for the current view or active tab 

Use Shortcut Keys 

1. Press Alt 
2. Press the letter that matches the command 
3. The selected command runs. 
4. If additional shortcut keys are available, they appear 

Example 

1. Press Alt 
2. Press R 
3. The Review tab opens. Shortcut keys for review tools appear

Notes: 

• Shortcut keys depend on the active Ribbon tab 

• Ribbon visibility does not affect document content
